Software Engineer

Job Summary:
Bit9, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated and experienced software developer and technical leader to join our fast-paced development team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small team of professionals working on the design and development of a next-generation security product that solves the problem of unwanted software at the endpoint. Level of position may be determined by experience.

- Leading or working as a member of the team on the ongoing design and development of the Bit9 Parity™ Agent module
- Playing a major role in designing and implementing Parity Agent software. A more senior engineer will also provide strategic planning and advice
- Profiling and optimizing the Parity Agent for performance
- Designing the Parity Agent testing framework
- Integrating with third-party and/or Open Source technologies
- Defining and designing proof of concepts or working prototype for major features
- Ensuring that any new design will be consistent with existing architecture. An experienced engineer will also evaluate and make recommendations on the current architecture
- Implementing software components to be included as core technology or options to a enterprise-class commercial software product
Qualifications & requirements:
- 5-10 years experience in designing and delivering commercial software products
- Experience with system-level programming, performance optimization, and testing frameworks
- Broad technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design, and implementation
- Excellent knowledge of C, C++, and Windows
- Solid knowledge and experience with Windows internals
- Track record of delivering scalable commercial products in a timely manner as well as producing tight and efficient code
- Good product-level analytical and design skills
- Demonstrated experience as a technical lead
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Start-up company experience is a plus
- Experience in the security field is a plus
- Extensive hands-on experience with the Windows DDK is a plus
- Understanding of the Windows kernel is a strong plus
