Code of Connection for GCSX
More pressure continues to be applied on government agencies to ensure data security due to high profile data loss. The development of an extensive network infrastructure, the Government Connect Secure eXtranet (GCSx), has enabled secure interactions between connected Local Authorities and other governmental organisations. Local authorities who connect through the infrastructure must adhere to information security controls defined by Code of Connection (CoCo) for the Government Secure Intranet (GSI) and GCSx, Memorandum Number 22.
Many local authorities have put off CoCo compliance and while the deadline has been extended to September 2009, there is little chance of ongoing leniency because local authorities failing to comply will be unable to access the GSCx, hence, will be cut off from central information resources that are key to the delivery of effective public services.
