Utilities

Bit9 security and availability solutions help utilities to manage and mitigate risk more effectively. Our solutions help utilities monitor security configurations, lock down critical systems and improve NERC audit readiness.

The Challenge

In an effort to preserve the safe delivery of the bulk power system so many depend upon, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) put forth standards, guidelines and best practices to address cyber security and the protection of critical infrastructure. The goal of these Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards is to help prepare owners and operators on how to proactively prevent cyber attacks on their critical infrastructure and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Threats are becoming more likely as SCADA systems and networks increasingly utilize commercially available software and have IP connectivity. This has contributed to higher threat levels and increased vulnerability in industrial enterprises ranging from mining plants, water and electrical utility installations to oil and gas plants.

SCADA systems operators must ensure the integrity of the systems that monitor the critical infrastructure. Should these monitoring systems become compromised maliciously or by an inadvertent change, then the service being provide is at risk.

How Bit9 Can Help

Bit9 Parity can help ensure the integrity of SCADA monitoring systems by:

Helping Achieve Compliance

By eliminating vulnerable and malicious applications and delivering configuration, change and processes control, Bit9 helps utilities achieve compliance:
