To achieve these goals, we occasionally need information supplied by you (“User Information”) when you visit our website (the “Site”) and/or use our Products and Services. I. Website
User Information
We encourage all visitors to register with Bit9. Registration is not required, except for access to our premium content areas. The registration form requires users to give us the following User Information:
- The user’s first and last name
- The user’s company
- The user’s functional title
- A valid phone number for the user
- A valid e-mail address for the user
- The state or province in which the user is located
- The country in which the user is located
- The total number of Windows PCs at the user’s company
- The primary goal of the user’s company’s lockdown project
- The status of the user’s company’s lockdown project
In the event that you contact us for customer support through the Site, we may also request that you provide additional User Information relevant to the support requested by you. Users are under no obligation to provide such information. However, we cannot guarantee that we can provide customer support in the event that relevant information related to the use of our Products or Services is withheld.
In the event that you decide to participate in any of our user forums, any personal, private and/or confidential information that you elect to disclose to other users on the forum shall be disclosed at your own risk. Such disclosures shall not be considered User Information, and we are not responsible for maintaining the security of any information so disclosed.
The Bit9 Web server also records visitor IP addresses and domain names for reporting and site usage analysis. This information is reported internally and then purged periodically.
Use and Sharing of User Information
User Information may be compiled into user profiles that are maintained by Bit9 (or by third party services used by Bit9 to manage customer information), and may be used for the following purposes:
- To send you information about Bit9, product updates, special offers, and newsletters
- To provide customer support for Bit9 Products and Services
- To initiate or to respond to a subpoena, investigative demand, or other discovery request that is properly served pursuant to state or federal law

User Information gathered through the Site will NOT be sold or provided to third-parties for the purposes of solicitation or direct marketing.

Right to Review, Correct and Delete User Information
If you provide us with User Information, you have the following rights with respect to that information:
- To review the User Information that you have supplied to us
- To request that we correct any errors, outdated information, or omissions in User Information that you have supplied to us
- To request that your User Information not be used to contact you
- To request that your User Information be removed from any solicitation list that we use
- To request that your User Information be deleted from our records
- To opt-out of being solicited by this site or third parties.

No method of safeguarding information is 100% secure. We have implemented policies, procedures, and technical safeguards appropriate to protect User Information from unauthorized and improper access, use, disclosure, modification, and destruction.

Our Site contains links to other Web sites, including our partners and media Web sites. Please be aware that our privacy policy does not apply to these other sites.
II. Products and Services
In order to identify and provide information about software and perform their other functions, our Products may collect certain file information, including file name and path name, status information regarding computers at different security levels and connection status, and server configuration information during your use of them. The types and amount of information our Products collect can be configured based on your requirements during the installation process and can be updated after installation. We may use information collected by our Products to improve our Products. No end-user identifiable or computer identifiable information is collected by us at any time. Certain jurisdictions may have laws and regulations which impact your ability to collect and disseminate certain types of information including the types of information collected by our Products. You should only use our Products in compliance with such laws.
Changes to Policy
Bit9 will occasionally update this privacy policy. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of the privacy policy, and send you an e-mail informing you that this policy has been updated. You are responsible for periodically reviewing this policy for updates to its terms.
